About Captain Jake
« on: December 05, 2013, 03:18:32 PM »
Florida Fishing Guide, Captain Jake Herrin has been fishing out of Yankeetown, Florida for over 40 years now and has been a "Captain" for well over 20, so is very familiar with the area and feels right "at home" on the water. Located on the Central West Coast, you'll be fishing some of the best areas around, from Cedar Key north to the Crystal River.

A fishing day with Captain Jake starts on the Withlacoochee River to the Gulf of Mexico Flats in Yankeetown Florida. First thing on the trip, catch the Captain's 'specal bait for the Redfish. Simple & quick and he'll show you how to use the bait for best results.
The Captain started his "fishing career" back in the fifties when his family moved to Florida from South Georgia to help run a fresh water fish camp on Orange Lake. He was guiding out of the camp when he was about 11 years old and bagging large varieties of fresh water fish for some very happy customers. Both his Mom and Dad were very avid Bass fishermen catching some very nice Bass and several other fresh water species throughout the years. You could say he just has fishing in his blood! A friend talked him in to coming over to this area to fish one day about 30 years ago and he's been coming here since, having caught "salt water fishing fever".

Redfish, Speckled Trout, Spanish Mackerel, Cobia, Sheepshead, Black Drum, Jack Crevalle & Shark are just some of the fish you can catch in this area plus, some other species that can be caught at different times of the year; Pompano, Flounder, Blues, nice keeper Black Bass & Mangrove Snapper, plus a few other miscellaneous species!

He's even been known to catch some nice "Inshore" Grouper at certain times of the year.

Fishing license is provided for up to Four Anglers, plus tackle & bait, just bring your lunch in a small cooler and something to drink!
If you have Rods & Reels plus Tackle of your own that you would feel more comfortable fishing with, then feel free to bring them along.

We even clean and bag up your catch for you to take home.
